About
WONN
WONN
is 1230 AM. WONN
features the Timeless Favorites as its main music format, with Jim
Hendrick sitting in (6-10 am) during the weekdays.
WONN
has been broadcasting from the same frequency, with the same call
letters, since 1949. To read about past owners and locations
of WONN,
you can check out a great site created by former Hall
Communications employee Jim Maloy here.
Our
goal at WONN
is to give our listeners the best collection of music from their
past, mixed with some music from recent years as well. In
addition to that, we
aim to provide you with local news coverage,
as well as national and world news through the resources of CNN
and Associated Press. And, should the need arise, we'll step
things up a notch or two with additional coverage.
Take, for
example, the busy hurricane season of 2004. WONN
teamed up with Tampa News Channel
8 for additional around the clock
coverage to help you be more informed, safe, and to just plain
keep you company during the storms.
WONN
welcomes your comments and suggestions. Please feel free to
contact the program director with your thoughts. WONN
also thanks everyone in the greater Lakeland area for listening.
And a special thanks to all of the snowbirds who listen each year
when they come down and stay with us for a while.

Dick Robinson's
"American Standards by the Sea" and
"The Sounds of Sinatra with Sid Mark" |
| Dick Robinson's "American
Standards by the Sea" is a syndicated radio "first"...a
weekly, two-hour program originating from a motor yacht.
"American Standards" is a blend of music, interviews and
anecdotes with a music round-up that includes the
greats...both old and new, from Sinatra and Bennett, Torme
and Clooney, to Callaway and Krall. Don't miss Dick
Robinson's "American Standards by the Sea", Sunday
nights at 6pm, on AM 1230, WONN. |
 |
Sid Mark launched The Sounds
of Sinatra in Philadelphia 50 years ago. It all began as a
call from a listener, who suggested that Sid spin one hour
of Frank Sinatra.
Now, WONN is proud to present "The Sounds
of Sinatra" Sunday nights from 8-10pm. |
